Ah, the great football matchup of Feyenoord versus FC Groningen. An age-old tale. Brace yourselves, because based on the recent evidence, this may not provide the goal-fest you're dreaming of.
Between the goal net stands Timon Wellenreuther for Feyenoord who has managed a respectable 15 saves with a bright 7.56 rating. Gotta fancy him to bring his gloves to the party this weekend. FC Groningen's net security services are provided by Etienne Vaessen, not having a bad season himself with a 7.05 rating and 13 haul-ins.
Feyenoord's got some top brass, no doubt about it. Quinten Timber and Anis Hadj Moussa, both having a terrific season with timely goals and quite a knack for shots on goal. FC Groningen? They're certainly not short of potential match-winners either. Stije Resink, Wouter Prins and Thom van Bergen have all been finding the back of the net regularly and kept the opposition keepers on jittery feet. As mouth-watering as it may sound, let's not overlook the fact that the word 'defense' exists in football for a reason.
Looking at past skirmishes, Feyenoord seems to always bag something out of it either in form of wins or draws. Not really the stuff fairy tales are made of for our FC Groningen fans. And if that's not enough to give a Groningen supporter sleepless nights, consider Feyenoord's firm regular season record. Although both teams have had their fair share of stumbling blocks in recent times, Feyenoord has managed to grind out results while our friends from Groningen have had a mixed bag at best.
Based on all this, I'd say Feyenoord are likely to walk out of this a tad happier. Conservatively I'd add though, Groningen ain't no pushovers, we could be in for a slugfest. But on balance, my money, if I were a gambling man and I remind you I'm not, would go to Feyenoord. And by how much, you say? I would think by a narrow margin.
Albert’s Prediction: Feyenoord by 1
