Sale Sharks by 6And then there were two. Pardon me not kicking things off like a 90's sitcom, but we do have an interesting fixture lined up here, folks. Let's dive into the deep end with our English Premiership match-up between the Sale Sharks and the Northampton Saints.
We're only in round one but seems like the water's already testing the Saints, who've not had the best run lately. Surprisingly, they've outscored the Sharks in 3 out of the last 5 times these two teams met but then again, they lost their last game (a humiliating 33-0 drubbing, let's not forget) to Leicester Tigers. Not a confidence booster if you ask me.
Sale Sharks, on the other hand, have been impressing with their recent form. Alright, they've had a bit of a seesaw with their performances, winning three, losing two. But the wins have had quite high margins which does reflect positively on their attacking prowess. Now that's something the Saints probably don't want to hear, given their poor goal difference lately.
Statistically speaking, the Sharks do have an edge with a slightly better regular season record under their belt. Add to that, they're placed higher in the standings, a beautiful number six spot compared to the Saints at number eight.
Well, we could go on discussing more insignificant details like tea preferences and sock colours but let's cut through the chase. Based on the available data and my own slightly skewed judgement, my money’s on the Sharks having a "jawsome" game. My bad, couldn’t resist that pun. But before I stray further, here's my official prediction folks:
