Borussia Dortmund by 1Talk about having a hot ticket! It's Borussia Dortmund squaring off against Union Berlin, and folks, you might want to grab your popcorn.
Looking at our goalkeepers, Gregor Kobel has been holding the fort for Dortmund with an admirable 13 saves and a 6.98 rating. Union Berlin answers with two strong options, Frederik Rønnow showing a better form with a 7.30 rating and 9 saves, while Alexander Schwolow with a 6.60 rating and 2 saves isn't too shabby either.
Players to watch, you ask? Union Berlin brings Diogo Leite whose accurate pass % of 82.7 can really knit the game together for them, alongside Andrej Ilić and Benedict Hollerbach who're both packing a decent punch with 2 goals each this season. If goals are what you're after, Borussia Dortmund boasts Julian Brandt and Maximilian Beier, with a goal each under their belts, and Serhou Guirassy leading the pack with two goals. An honorable mention to Waldemar Anton, he might not have a goal to his name, but with a 93.2 accurate pass %, he's the man pulling the strings in the middle of the park for Dortmund.
When it comes to face-to-face encounters, it's been a to-and-fro affair. Two wins apiece in their last four outings, with Dortmund holding the advantage in goals scored.
Union Berlin's regular season record of 6-5-11 isn't exactly one for the history books. Dortmund on the other hand, have had a better run of it with an 8-5-9 record, but let's face it folks, neither of these teams are going to be confused with 1970’s Brazil anytime soon.
Berlin has had somewhat of a rollercoaster ride in recent fixtures with two wins, two losses, and one very forgettable draw. Dortmund, in comparison, has seen better days - sporting a record of one win, one draw, and three losses in their last five games.
Given all this valuable, mind-numbing data, here's my prediction. Bringing a blend of humor and mathematical insight - I'm leaning towards Borussia Dortmund. They've been in better form and have historically done well against Union Berlin. And while it might well be a close call, I'm backing Dortmund to come out ahead by a solitary goal.
