My Prediction
Bayer Leverkusen by 2Ah, is there a scent of pretzels or is it just another day in the Bundesliga with a face-off between Bayer Leverkusen and Heidenheim, ladies and gentlemen?!
You can almost hear the collective yawn from the Bayer Leverkusen fans. No, it’s not the excitement of Alejandro Grimaldo’s 84.8 accurate pass %, or Florian Wirtz’s active play with 2 shots on goal, it's the expectation. Expectation born from a history of superiority, Lilly fans! Last time these teams met, Bayer showed Heidenheim who's boss with a 2-1 win in Feb 2024, and a more dominant 4-1 thrashing in Sept 2023.
Heidenheim’s keeper, Kevin Müller, with his 12 saves and a 6.80 rating, is expected to be busy. It’s like inviting a vegan to a barbecue – there’s going to be trouble, folks. On the other hand, Bayer’s Lukáš Hrádecký is sporting a slightly better 7.07 rating. He's certainly experienced a bit less action with 9 saves, so he might just have a bit more energy in the tank.
Heidenheim's top players like Leo Scienza and Patrick Mainka are really going to have to squeeze the jelly out of the donut to nab their chance at glory. Heidenheim’s regular season record is a bit like my love life - more losses than wins. Don't get me wrong, we all like an underdog, but it's about time that dog learned to bite!
And for Bayer? Patrik Schick is the man. No, not just because he's been practicing his ‘Blue Steel’ glance, but because he’s put one in the net with only 2 shots on goal. Now that’s efficiency!
Recent results? Heidenheim tallied up more red lights than a Christmas tree, losing 4 out of their last 5 matchups. No presents for them, folks. Bever Leverkusen, on the other hand, pulled off 2 wins and 3 draws. Not exactly a clean sweep, but definitely a better mop!
