Corinthians by 1Alrighty, let's get down to this Brasileiro Série A cheeky matchup between Corinthians and Santos. From the goalkeeping side, there's a tad bit of discrepancy, don't we think? Santos's Gabriel Brazão is flaunting his fancy rating of 7.34 and 17 saves, while Corinthians has Matheus Donelli and Hugo Souza with 6.50 and 6.20 ratings respectively, and combined saves that don't even match Brazão's. Bet our Corinthians' duo have Brazão's poster in their lockers. That's the 'glove drama', folks.
Now, sliding into the field players. Santos is featuring Guilherme as their top guy with a 7.60 rating and an impressive 82.8% accurate pass rate, but his goal tally is still crying out for attention. Clearly Santos, hasn't learned that you got to spread butter to make a sandwich. And then there's Yeferson Soteldo and Gonzalo Escobar with similar stories to tell - radiant ratings, and more passes than an overly-friendly prom date, but no goals.
For Corinthians, however, it seems to be a completely different story. Look at Yuri Alberto with 3 goals, 5 shots on goal and a 7.24 rating. If he was a book, he'd certainly be a bestseller! And them there's Memphis Depay, the chap with a fancy 7.20 rating and 2 goals, who's trying to keep pace with Alberto.
However, the past clashes haven't delivered in Corinthians' favour completely, with their recent 1-1 draw against Santos. And again, the regular season records are not worth boasting at a family gathering, with both teams having more losses than wins.
In terms of recent performances, Santos seems to be a bit down on their luck, barely scoring in their recent games. On the other hand, Corinthians seem to have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly, with a 4 vs 2 win against Internacional followed by a 0 vs 4 defeat against Flamengo. Seem they're a bit of roller coaster ride, eh?
Now, with all these stats barely digestible, if I were a betting man, which I am not, I'd lean towards Corinthians. Corinthians' players have a knack for netting the ball and I reckon that'll make the difference in this matchup.
