Oh look, another round of good old fashioned soccer. Just can't get enough, can we? Today, we're looking at a scuffle between Botafogo and Internacional. Let's dive in, shall we?
Goalkeeper wise, it's almost like looking in a mirror with Internacional's Anthoni and Botafogo's John Victor donning the gloves. Both sitting on precisely 11 saves with a mere .06 rating setting them apart. No clear advantage here, folks.
Now, I hear Internacional's Victor Gabriel and Alan Patrick have been keeping the cobwebs out of the opponents' nets, churning out some impressive stats, 'course it's all based on the last season. Statistically speaking, these fellas have been quite the firework pairing. Braian Aguirre and Rafael Borré seem to be contending for that coveted ride on the bench, though.
Meanwhile, over at Botafogo, Jefferson Savarino and Igor Jesus are driving the bandwagon with accurate passes and a knack for netting. Gregore's got his passing shoes on too, though he seems to have misplaced his shooting boots.
Now, if we took a quick break from scrolling through stats and cast our eyes back in time a lil' bit, you'd notice that Botafogo did manage to nick the last two meetings between these teams. That said, Internacional returned the favor with identical 3-1 results in 2023. Given their past matchups, it seems like both teams take turns at the wheel.
Looking at their regular-season records, both teams are cozying up together with just one draw making the difference. Internacional is looking a little ragged recently though, facing harsh defeats from Corinthians and Palmeiras, not to mention their drab draw against Grêmio. Botafogo on the other hand, despite their recent slump against Bahia and Atlético Mineiro, seem to have come out on top against Fluminense.
If the past tells us anything, it's that history loves a good old repetition. Considering their recent form and players' performance, my prediction my friends is on the warmer side of things for Botafogo this time around.
