Mannarino in straight sets.
Ah, a jolly good day for some grass court action as we've got Adrian Mannarino against Christopher O'Connell in the round of 32. As you may recall, Mannarino hails from France, and he’s been showing some real panache lately, although not without a few tumbles. He's the 4th seed for our court-side pleasures in this particular tournament. Christopher O'Connell, on the other hand, is Australia’s somewhat studious contribution to this game.
Now, if we take a stroll down memory lane, you'll remember that O'Connell has been on a bit of a love streak but not the kind that wins matches, unless we're inventing a new way of scoring. His most recent victory dates back to mid-April against Ugo Carabelli, following which he's been generously letting his opponents take the win. His resume of recent losses includes tangos with Humbert, Ymer, Norrie and Fritz.
Mannarino, like a fine cheese, has a smattering of wins and losses of his own, but we’ll focus on the more recent dynamics of the court. His triumph over Dutra Da Silva was impressive but was bookended by defeats with Blockx, Van Assche, Taberner and Dellien.
So, who will emerge the less bruised from this kerfuffle? Well, if we go by the charming seedings, Mannarino has the upper hand, or is it racket? Plus, the love he's getting from the payout crowd is also quite a spectacle.
I suppose when it's all said and done, this match won't be different from my morning cup of tea - predictable, but still enjoyable. A spectacle of athleticism where I anticipate Mannarino to give us a slight sense of déjà vu.
Albert’s Prediction: Mannarino in straight sets.
