Look at what we have here; an intriguing face-off between the world-traveler, unseeded Alexei Popyrin and the 30th seeded dynamo, Tomas Martin Etcheverry. If recent form is anything to go by, it's tough to separate these two. Popyrin's chalking up some respectable wins but caught some tough breaks, while Etcheverry, the underdog, has been showing a certain tenacity, even in his defeats.
Etcheverry's seeded position may imply a degree of superiority, but hasn't exactly translated into a faultless performance. He could demonstrate some of that higher-ranked firepower, but boy, he hasn't been consistent. His recent results show a rhythm of back and forth, when it comes to winning and losing.
Meanwhile, Popyrin has strung together some considerable victories showing he loves a good challenge and isn't deterred by, as some might say, punching above his weight. His unseeded position has done little to quell his appetite for more, and don't forget, we're dealing with Wimbledon's unforgiving best-of-five sets format here, folks.
Taking all of this into account, I'm tipping this one in favor of Popyrin. However, considering his status and recent wins, I'll give Etcheverry some credit. He won't go down without a fight, and that fight will yield him a set.
Albert’s Prediction: Popyrin in 4 sets.
