In the more unpredictable world of tennis - and life in general - I'd advise you not to put your mortgage on this one, ladies and gentlemen. We've got Yibing Wu clashing with Nicolas Jarry. You've got to love the matchup.
Jarry, who's been around the block a few more times, is favored here. He's the 25th seed, and he's got a few tricks up his sleeve. But then again, the lad hasn't had it easy of late. He's only secured 1 out of his last 5 matches and let's be honest, that doesn't bode well.
On the other side of the court, we see the unseeded Yibing Wu, who has been having some mixed luck with his games. Yes, Wu has won his most recent match, showing that he's far from down and out. He's been batting 0.5 out of the park, taking 3 out of his last 6.
But numbers are numbers, and looking at theirs, one could safely place Jarry on a bit of rocky ground, while Yibing Wu's incremental improvements are becoming more visible. This really could be anybody's game, and it wouldn't be a shock if the unseeded player pulled an upset here.
Yet, the heart feels what the heart feels and there's no denying Jarry's seasoned ways could swing it in his favor. My gut, though questionable at times, tells me Jarry may surprise us yet.
Albert's Prediction: Nicolas Jarry in 3 sets.
