Brisbane Lions by 13Well, strap on your kangaroo hopping boots and let's delve into this Aussie face-off between the Brisbane Lions and Geelong Cats. The big cats of Brisbane are off to a beautiful start this season, coming in 2-0 and sitting pretty at number 6 on the ladder. Remember, they've got the taste of victory still fresh from last year's premiership win, so they're not going to go down without a fight.
On the other side of the footy oval are the Geelong Cats, who are moving at the speed of a lethargic possum so far with a 1-1 start to the season. However, they're still scraping the bottom of the top 8, lucky chaps.
Now, taking a gander at the past run-ins between these two teams, it's obvious the Lion's roar overpowered the Cat's meow more often. Also worth pointing out is that the Lions had the upper hand in their most recent encounter, in September 2024. Bless the Cats, can’t catch a break.
But wait, let's not ride off into the sunset just yet. The Cats looked pretty spry in their last game, clawing almost to victory against St Kilda. In contrast, Brisbane had a tight win over West Coast. One could argue that the Cats are getting their groove back, but then one could also argue that pineapple belongs on pizza, and we all know where that discussion would lead us.
Considering the spread and payout data the bookies have generously provided us - careful, they're sharper than a platypus beak - and also adjusting for the cruel mistress that is the unpredictability of the sports world, my prediction finds its way surer than a boomerang back home.
