Atalanta by 2If all of you Lecce fans could kindly avert your gaze for a moment, I'd like to get down to brass tacks about this upcoming matchup. Pitted against Atalanta, the situation for Lecce isn't roses and sunshine, I'm afraid. The spotlight is on Atalanta's goalkeeper - Marco Carnesecchi who's sporting a 7.28 season rating and 11 saves under his belt. Over at Lecce's camp, Wladimiro Falcone is putting up a solid fight with a 6.88 rating and 15 saves, but it's the man between the sticks who you've got to watch out for.
Now, onto the foot soldiers. Lecce's got some interesting folks on the ground, namely Tete Morente, Tiago Gabriel, and Federico Baschirotto. Morente and Gabriel have some decent passing accuracy but seem to suffer from shy trigger fingers with no goals or shots on goal. Baschirotto, though, I'd watch this lad. Two goals from 3 shots on goal and a passing accuracy of 81.7% which is nothing to sniff at.
Turning our attention towards Atalanta, here's the trio we've got our eyes on: Éderson, Raoul Bellanova, and Davide Zappacosta. Ederson, the chap with 1 goal from just a lone shot, is already making his mark. Bellanova and Zappacosta, though, seem to be more focussed on ball distribution with their high pass accuracy.
History sings a compelling tune here. In all past matchups between Lecce and Atalanta, out of 4 games, Lecce managed to snatch victory only once, leaving Atalanta the champion thrice. Regular season records make the favoritism pretty evident, folks. Atalanta’s sitting pretty with a 19-7-7 record, while Lecce comes in swinging at a rather underwhelming 6-8-19.
Those of you hoping Lecce's recent results might provide a glimmer of hope, don't hold your breath. Their losing streak is as consistent as my dislike for diet soda. Atalanta, on the other hand, has had its ups and downs, but they did bag wins in their last two games against Milan and Bologna.
