Crystal Palace by 2Oh, you've got to love a good matchup. We have Southampton squaring off with Crystal Palace, and you can practically taste the tension!
Let me cut to the chase, if I were a betting man (and no one is saying that I am), Crystal Palace would be my not-so-secret weapon. They are showcasing Dean Henderson between the sticks, who pulled a fairy decent 8.8 rating and a fantastic set of bloody 7 saves, reminding us that he's got mitts like a Roman gladiator.
Southampton is countering with Aaron Ramsdale in goal, who’s achieved a modest 6.85 rating, not exactly hall of fame material if you ask me.
Snapping into the top players, Crystal Palace is armed with the likes of Ismaïla Sarr and Chris Richards, both racking up an excellent rating of 8.0. Hell, they even have Jefferson Lerma making solid contributions with his 7.4 rating.
On the other side of the field, Southampton has Ryan Manning, sporting a 7.3 rating, followed by the likes of Paul Onuachu and Tyler Dibling, whose ratings hover around 7.05, not too shabby really, but it's not hard to tell that they are hardly matching Crystal Palace.
This isn't the first dance between these two. Last rounds went in Crystal Palace's favor, as our history notes tell us: 2 against 1 on December 2024, then 2 against none on April 2023. Southampton has done little in the way of a comeback.
Adding up the recent wins and losses, Crystal Palace pulled a solid 10-9-9 season, compared to Southampton's, well, what can only be described as a "is that even a score?" season of 2-3-24.
Lastly, let's not forget Crystal Palace's recent capsule, they've been leaving competitors in the dust. Beats against Ipswich, Aston Villa, Fulham, and even Manchester United all in recent memory. Meanwhile, the Saints have had a turbulent time of late, with losses across the board.
