Without beating around the bush, the Canberra Raiders are strutting around like they own the place, and quite frankly, who can blame them? They're comfortably nestled in the #4 position of the NRL Premiership 2025, which for our less mathematically inclined friends means they're sat pretty in the golden Top 8, much to the chagrin of the Dolphins.
Now, I don't like to point out the painfully obvious, but the Dolphins' erroneous journey has them wading, somewhat optimistically I might add, in #10 position i.e., the dreaded underbelly of the Top 8. Now there's still plenty of rugby left to be played, but a spoon is a spoon no matter how many times it pretends to be a fork.
Then, you might have noticed their previous nose-to-nose encounters—the matches swinging back and forth like a dehydrated pendulum. There's just a cigarette's width separating them. Oh, and it's funny, the last encounter they had, the Raiders pipped Dolphins by exactly one point. Talk about halftime drama!
One cannot ignore the recent form though, and although the Dolphins have had a bit of a spring in their flippers recently, the Canberra Raiders are not your average walk in the park. Hence why they're in the Top 4 and well, Dolphins are... not. The Raiders come off of a courageous spree, making minced meat of their last three opponents. Meanwhile, the Dolphins emerge from a pool of consistent inconsistency—not the type of form induced confidence.
The wider point disparity leans towards the Raiders as they more often than not outscored their aquatic-named competitors. Given all of this, plus the fact I've yet to see a Dolphin properly handle a rugby ball, the Raiders should just about tip this one in their favor— but by how much?
Well, add a 4.5-point favor given by our friends down at the sportsbooks to the fact that the recent trend sees the Raiders winning by an increasingly wide margin, and voilà! You've got the winner and the winning margin. Grab a pint and put your feet up—this game, folks, er, I mean esteemed viewers, seems like it's gonna be plain sailing.
Albert’s Prediction: Canberra Raiders by 5
