I don't know who made coffee this morning, but it's clearly time to guess the future and that future involves Oregon Ducks going head to head with UCLA Bruins. I wouldn't bet my last buck on this, but hey, who knows – it might pay for my next haircut.
Looking closer at Oregon's lineup, they seem to be packing some heat. As the trending philosophy goes, “three's a company”, and Oregon's got the sparkly trio of Jackson Shelstad, Nate Bittle and TJ Bamba. When it comes to bread and butter, Bittle’s performance this season is impressive, dishing out 12.9 points while vacuuming 7.5 rebounds a game – that isn’t half bad. Now, unless he's got butterfingers during this upcoming match, he's certainly one to watch.
On the other side of the court, we’ve got the UCLA boys. Eric Dailey Jr, Tyler Bilodeau, and yes, Kobe Johnson seem to be the guaranteed tough cookies here. No jokes - Kobe, with his 6.0 rebounds per game last month, has been cleaning the backboards just like his name-sake. Hope he remembered to bring the plunger for this one.
Poring over the past skirmishes between these two, well, they’re toe-to-toe, aren’t they? It's back and forth wins for the two, they’ve been trading blows like Saturday marketgoers bartering for the same french loaf.
Season records, for what they're worth, show Oregon with 16 wins and 4 losses, while UCLA is close on their heels with 15 wins and 6 losses. Recent form has been bit of a mixed bag for both sides - some wins here, some losses there - much like my grandmother's mystery stew.
It seems we have a bit of a David and Goliath situation here, but... hey, I don't trust those AP Rankings much either. Ducks are sitting pretty at 16 while the Bruins' ranking is non-existent...like my social life.
So, considering all of that, here is my take. Drumroll please:
