Wake Forest Demon Deacons by 2
Taking a look at this NCAA Men's Basketball matchup, we've got ourselves a head-on collision of mid-season prowess. Meeting on the court are the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Louisville Cardinals.
First up, let's address the Demon Deacons. The significant players tearing up the stat sheets recently are Hunter Sallis, putting up an impressive 20.7 points per game just last month alone, along with Cameron Hildreth's and Tre'Von Spillers’ consistently solid performances. They've got a decent 15-5 record under their belts, not to mention pipping North Carolina Tar Heels to the post in their most recent outing.
That said, the last time these two teams crossed paths, the Demon Deacons came out on the losing end. Makes you wonder if they can overcome the ghosts of past matchups.
Over on the Cardinal side. They're not here to play games... except, you know, basketball. Well, they have the prodigious Chucky Hepburn chalking up nearly 15 points per game and 8.3 assists. We can’t overlook J'Vonne Hadley for rebounding and James Scott when it comes to balance in scoring and rebounding. Their last few games have been a show of utter domination, with scarcely a team coming within a hair's breadth of challenging them. Run-of-the-mill stuff for a team that's ranked 21 in the AP Poll.
Given all that jazz, the smart money would've been on the Cardinals if you'd asked me earlier in the season. But folks, times have changed quicker than a chameleon on a rainbow, and they don't have that hold on this game as they once might have.
