Here's the scoop: the Cleveland Cavaliers are heading over to Dallas to face off against the Mavericks and what an encounter this is set to be.
Let's chew over the Cavs first. They're top dogs in the Eastern Conference right now, and their recent form shows exactly why. Scoring 113 points or more in all of their recent matches, now we can't ignore that. And while Isaac Okoro and Sam Merrill are out of action with injuries, the Cavs still have Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland to rely on. Mitchell's pulling in 23.7 points per game this season while Mobley's hitting 18.4 points and has been a beast on the rebounds side with 8.7 per matchup. Garland shouldn't be overlooked too as he whipped up 20.5 points per game this season.
Shifting focus to the Dallas Mavericks, injuries have ripped the heart out of their offense. Both Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving, their top point-getters, are down and out which is like a party but without the balloons. Yet, they have Spencer Dinwiddie and Klay Thompson who can still carry the mantle, and they might spring a surprise. They'll need to up their game from recent performances though, as three losses in the last five outings is hardly inspiring and let me tell you, the Mavericks haven't been particularly victorious in past skirmishes with the Cavs either.
Taken with a slice of dry humor, my crystal ball shows the Cavaliers continuing their impressive form and getting the better of the depleted Mavericks. Given the Cavs' scoring form and a struggling Dallas side, ready the brooms because I anticipate a bit of a sweep.
