Before we dig in, remember that Detroit Pistons are valued less lucratively but are the favored contender as per the odds. Now, as we dive into the deep end of this NBA matchup, we can’t ignore the dominating figures posted by Detroit's rookie sensation, Cade Cunningham, these past weeks. His average of 24.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists in the last month is a thing of sheer beauty. In his corner, Jaden Ivey's contribution of 15.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game last month isn't anything to toss aside either.
Now, if you're a Hornets fan, and I apologize if you are, your trump card here lies in the quite impressive LaMelo Ball, averaging 30.1 points this season, and Miles Bridges, bringing an additional 20.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in the last month. If they can ramp up their game a couple of notches and perhaps use some secret bee signal, who knows, we might be in for a surprise.
Taking a gander into our NBA time machine, we see a mixed bag of outcomes from the past matchups - anyone's game if you ask me. The Pistons appear to have squashed the Hornets in their domain a good couple of times. However, the recent Hornets victories reflecting on the Pistons' memory board gets them their bragging rights.
Despite it all, the Hornets' off-season strategy seems to be akin to my diet plan after the holidays - nonexistent. With a dismal record of 7-25, they sit at a sad #14 in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons, however, are flapping their wings a bit more over at #9 thanks to a 15-18 workload.
Keeping in mind their recent form, the Pistons seem to be humming a happier tune, registering four wins out of their last five games. The Hornets, akin to one who steps on a lego piece in the dark, have stumbled their way to four consecutive losses.
Considering all this information and tossing reliability to the wind, here's my call:
