Ladies and gents, time for some chit-chat about our evening of hoops. On the menu, we have the Philadelphia 76ers visiting the Portland Trail Blazers. On the face of it, you might think this is an evenly matched game. After all, both teams have had their share of bumps, with the 76ers holding a 12-17 win-loss record and the Trail Blazers not faring much better at 11-20. But as I always say - the devil's in the details, isn't it?
Let's talk about the 76ers. Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid have been impressing us all season long. Particularly Maxey, who's been in the zone last month averaging 26.3 points. If there's a dude who can keep his team on top, it's him. Embiid is no slacker either, and Paul George has shown his importance with a consistent performance.
Then we have the Trail Blazers. On any good day, they're not exactly shooting blanks. Anfernee Simons pours in an average of 18.1 points, holding his own this season. But let's not ignore Deandre Ayton, the gentleman's been consistent under the glass with a 10 rebounds average.
History-wise, and here's a tidbit for you - the past four meetings between these two have been neatly split. So, what's the tipping point, you ask? I'll say – It lies beyond the data, in the realm of luck, judgement and the ability to keep the nerves on the court.
So without further ado, drawing from the chasm of my basketball wisdom and factoring in the less evident factors, here's what I think.
