New York Knicks by 12In today's match, we're looking at the New York Knicks rolling into the nation's capital for a smooth Harlem Globetrotters vs. Washington Generals kind of showdown with the Washington Wizards. No disrespect to the Generals, of course.
Knicks are playing a different game this season, really embracing the overachiever role, currently polishing their bronze medal in the third spot in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards, on the other hand, are patiently hovering around the cellar dwellers at spot 15.
Now let's talk some players. Knicks have got Karl-Anthony Towns, the double-double machine, who's been putting up 24.5 points and pulling down 13.5 rebounds per game this season. Then there's Jalen Brunson, who's been bit of a shocker, notching up 25.5 points per game – surprising absolutely everyone including himself.
In stark contrast, the Wizards boast a handful of average Joes that won't exactly get your pulse racing. There's Jordan Poole hovering around 22.7 points per game nonetheless, and Bilal Coulibaly at a modest 13.5 points per game. Couple that with a somewhat disappointing 15.8 points from Malcolm Brogdon, who I think deep down believes he's in the pick-up game at the local YMCA.
But history shouldn't be ignored. The Knicks have been slashing and burning their way through the Wizards in recent times, with the last 5 outings going their way. Adding insult to injury, the Knicks are also riding on a wave of spectacular victories in their recent games.
So, going out on a limb here - if the Knicks lose this game, I'll eat my hat… if I had a hat.
