In the green corner, Surfs Up! Boston Celtics, and in the wine corner we have the, oh please forgive me, perfectly undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers, ready to lock horns in a good old Eastern Conference duel.
This season makes it clear as day why folks get anxious at the mere mention of the Cavaliers players. Modern day gladiators like Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland having a hell of a time Sammy, raising eyebrows with an average of 24.6 and 21.4 points per game respectively. But don’t forget Evan Mobley, nipping away on the rebounds with 8.7 per game, and our big man Jarrett Allen, who's picking up just about everything that comes off the glass with 10.9 rebounds a game. And then the Celtics, they ain't starving for talent themselves either. We're talking about Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who by some mysterious design of the sporting gods, are managing to average 29.7 and 25.6 points per game this season.
Onto the scoreboard, don't tell me you missed the Cavaliers going 15-0 this season, a staggering detail I might add that makes me want to check what's in their breakfast cereal. The Celtics have had a commendable run too, with an 11-3 record, but it's clear someone should remind them this ain't horseshoes, close doesn't necessarily count.
Now, why do we even have past matchups if not to bring up those nasty little details? The tally seems to be favoring the Celtics for their last five meetings with 4 wins to 1, but it's a new season and the Cavaliers are certainly eager to rewrite that narrative.
Considering every corner of the square, I say it's about to get rowdy down in the East. Albert's Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers by 6.
