My Prediction
Tampa Bay Rays by 2Ladies and gentlemen, we have the Baltimore Orioles visiting the Tampa Bay Rays, and what a match-up we have on deck. We'll be setting up shop at Tropicana Field, where pitchers are known to have a bit of an edge, so that's a fun tidbit for all you sports trivia buffs.
Taking the mound for the Orioles, we have Charlie Morton. His 5.33 ERA and 1.56 WHIP this season are far from ideal, but perhaps the dome will do him some favors. On the Rays side, Taj Bradley with his 4.69 ERA and 1.30 WHIP is not exactly setting the world on fire, so this one could turn into quite the slugfest.
The Orioles lineup features the likes of Ramon Laureano and Jordan Westburg, who have both shown decent dexterity at the plate. Chandler Simpson and Yandy Diaz, meanwhile, are making pitchers sweat for the Rays. We are surely in for some exciting at-bats, folks.
Looking at past duels, we've had a rollercoaster of run-fests and pitching duels, so don't think for a moment you can predict how this one's going down, because history... well, it's a narrator with laryngitis.
The Rays may have a marginally better overall win-loss record than the Orioles, but don't let that fool you into thinking this game is as straightforward as a late-night infomercial. The Orioles have shown some fight recently, and the Rays are coming off a tough stretch on the road.
But since this ain't Little League and everyone doesn't get a trophy, it's time for a prediction.
