Arizona Diamondbacks by 2
Tickets are in hand, sunscreen is packed, it's time to navigate the matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. If past matchups are any fortune teller, you'll remember the Blue Jays came out on top in all three encounters last year. Wistful memory probably, considering Blue Jays current regular season record sitting at 43-50, while the Diamondbacks are balancing precariously at .500.
On the mound for Toronto, we've got Yariel Rodriguez, owning a 3.90 ERA and 1.41 WHIP from 7 appearances, occasionally making bats swing at the thin air. For the Diamondbacks, we've got Ryne Nelson, struggling to keep his ERA below 5 this season, but has made it out to the diamond a respectable 15 times.
Top players? Blue Jays has a few spotlight grabbers. Spencer Horwitz has been busy on plate recently, clubbing with 0.325 average, 4 home runs and 10 RBIs. Not to leave out Ernie Clement, keeping Horwitz on his toes with high batting average, same number of homers, but leading in RBIs, just to show who's boss. We can't ignore Vlad Jr. with his incredible numbers from last season.
Diamondbacks? Kevin Newman is a standout, batting at a radiant 0.382. Gabriel Moreno is doing his best, turning heads with an average of 0.321 and adding 11 RBIs. Christian Walker and Joc Pederson also bring something to the table, with Walker swatting 10 home runs the past month.
Blue Jays have somewhat limped through recent games, despite narrowly emerging victorious. The Diamondbacks have been slightly more successful. Factoring in the Chase Field's preference towards batters, I'm leaning towards the Diamondbacks on this one. The Diamondbacks have been dealing a hand of 21 more often recently and they could just take this.
