Alright sports fans, this matchup is shaping up to be an interesting one. Boston Red Sox are playing host to the Oakland Athletics in the legendary Fenway Park. Now, I don't know if you know this, but Fenway Park falls on the side of being batter-friendly. Could mean more runs up on the board than usual.
On the mound for the Oakland Athletics we've got Luis Medina, who's got a fair 4.29 ERA, though his WHIP stands at a rather heady 1.55. Now, the Red Sox's hurler Tanner Houck has been faring better this season, with a stellar ERA of 2.83 and a WHIP of only 1.07. More bam for your buck, if you ask me.
Oakland's got a lineup that's all about Brent Rooker, with a 0.308 batting average, 15 RBIs and 5 homers, not to mention Miguel Andujar who's batting 0.294 with 1 home run. They really can't afford to forget about Boston's third baseman Rafael Devers who's hitting .309 with a whopping 26 RBIs and 8 home runs. Also keep an eye out for the swift outfielder Jarren Duran with a .321 batting average.
When we look at past records, it's a mixed bag. Last time these two met here at Fenway, the A's claimed a 5-2 win. But rewind a bit and the Red Sox took home a 12-9 victory the day before. As far as regular season records go, Boston Red Sox holds a definite edge with 50-41 against Oakland's 35-59.
The A's recent showing have been a little up and down, especially their last matchup where they let Baltimore score 6. As for the Sox, they suffered a sting from the A's recently, but they blanked out New York 3-0 earlier in the week, so they got some momentum on their side.
Looking at all this, calling this one is going to require a pinch of salt. That being said, my educated guess leans towards a Red Sox victory. Here we go:
