Selected statistics, because who doesn’t love stats, right? Kyle Freeland, Colorado's workhorse, has been out of sight this season, literally non-existent with zeroes across the board. Outstanding or just plain confounding? Frankie Montas for Cincinnati Reds, on the other hand, has posted a far-from-flattering 4.28 season ERA coupled with a WHIP of 1.35. Yes, that's over four earned runs per game, hold onto your seats.
The Rockies bring to the table Brenton Doyle and Brendan Rodgers among others. Doyle's demonstrated some solid numbers at the plate, hitting at a neat .300 clip with 22 smooth RBIs, while Mr. Rodgers, not to be confused with the friendly neighborhood children’s show host, is a little lower down the scale with .283 batting average. Better luck next time, Mr. Rodgers. Mike Toglia, batting .208 but packing a punch with 16 RBIs, is also a part of the Rockies' roster. Guess even in the rockies, not all that glitters is gold!
On the other end, Reds' mammoth of a man, Jonathan India posts a sizzling .330 batting average with 9 RBIs and 2 homeruns this season. Now THAT is spicy! Elly De La Cruz, holding his own at a .280 batting average, has pushed 11 runners across the plate while enjoying 12 stolen bases. More like "Elly The Speedy Cruz". Spencer Steer isn’t steering clear of the bases either, with a .252 average and 19 RBIs, while Jeimer Candelario is hanging around at .245.
Judging by the scribbles on my napkin here - I mean, past matchups - the Reds have been seeing A LOT more of the Rockies’ home plate than the other way around. Do the Rockies even remember what the view from third base looks like? As it stands, the Reds hold 43 wins of their own against their 48 losses. Time to brush off that bat, Reds.
Recently, the Rockies have been rollercoasting, toggling between wins and losses, while the Reds have seen a surge, especially when they had the Rockies over for a band practice, scoring double digits in runs.
Anyone considering placing a wager here may want to put on their Reds-colored glasses. Taking everything into account, expect the Reds to roll like a river over the Rockies.
Albert's Prediction: Cincinnati Reds by 3
