Platense by 1Ah, what's better than a bit of Liga Profesional football between tradition-rich Platense and Atlético Tucumán? Well, probably a lot of things, but hey, this is my job.
Let's talk goalkeepers. On the Atlético side, we've got Tomás Durso keeping the net warm with his respectable 7.57 rating and 13 saves. Platense, on the other hand, seem to be faring pretty decently under the practically-ethereal hands of their guardian, Juan Cozzani, who's sitting with a rating of 7.40 and 12 saves. Not too shabby, eh?
Of course, we can't ignore the top players, the flashy boots on the field that get all the praise (and the blame). Atlético seems to be banking on the contributions of Leandro Díaz and Matías de los Santos. Díaz is serving up a hearty 7.40 rating and 63.0 accurate pass percentage with just one goal under his boots this season, while de los Santos, with his 7.20 rating, might not have any goals, but a remarkable 88.7% passing accuracy makes him a player you’d rather avoid in a game of dodgeball.
As for Platense, well, sitting pretty at the top of the heap is Edgar Elizalde, with a 7.70 rating despite not having registered any goals, and Vicente Taborda, who, besides rolling his name off the tongue just right, is sitting on a 7.50 rating with two goals to his name and an accuracy of 71.3%. Talk about keeping your eye on the ball.
Looking back over the dust-covered footprints of past matchups, these teams seem quite fond of the old tie game, drawing 1-1 in their last meeting. Atlético haven't exactly been setting the world on fire either, with a 2-1-7 record, compared to Platense's slightly less sorry state of 3-4-3.
In terms of recent form, Atlético's been on the cold end of the scoreboard, having lost their last four matches. Platense, on the other hand, have had a bit of a tug-of-war going on, drawing and winning in equal measure.
So, the big question: which one's walking away with the glory here? After putting my keen analytical mind, fine-tuned by years of watching grown men chase a ball around a field, I'd have to take a deep breath, check my notes one more time, and say...
