Pachuca by 1Looking at our upcoming barn-burner, Pachuca vs Puebla, it's clear that this is Pachuca's game to lose. Looking at both teams' history, Pachuca has a solid record of sinking goals against Puebla. Their battles usually end with Pachuca popping the champagne, and more often than not a sizable margin to boot. This trend is like my old Aunt Mildred's holiday fruitcake, consistent year in and out, albeit much more palatable.
Despite a few recent slips when playing against others, Pachuca's still managed to sit at a respectable 4-1-3 record for the regular season. Now, our friends at Puebla, on the other hand... well, they've seen better days. A 2-2-4 isn't exactly the hallmark of a stellar season, and while I'd love to root for the underdog, odds are more in favor of me magically shedding my quarantine 15.
Their recent games, too, suggest that Puebla could use a pep talk. More defeats than victories indicate they've been playing more peek-a-boo than football. On contrary, a rough patch in Pachuca's recent games may be good news for Puebla, but remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Keeping all of these pretty numbers and patterns in mind, it seems to me like Pachuca should sail through this one. Expect them to keep it a low-drama event and secure the goal measured at modest one point difference.
