Deportivo Alavés by 1Alright, let's take a swing at this La Liga clash. We've got Deportivo Alavés locking horns with Real Sociedad, which promises to be as entertaining as a salsa dance-off at a retirement home.
To start, let's have a look at the guys between the posts. Álex Remiro's been the standout goalie for Sociedad this season, armed with a 6.92 rating and a total of 11 saves. Meanwhile, Alavés's goal is a timeshare between Antonio Sivera and Jesús Owono, and if we're honest, their combined save figure wouldn't impress a backup Netflix comedian.
Onto the fellas who are supposed to score the goals. Sociedad's got Mikel Oyarzabal... the guy's got 4 goals and 5 great shots on goal with an accurate pass rate that makes me question my own hand-eye coordination abilities, which currently sits at 82.8%. He's joined by Jon Martin and Martín Zubimendi, both of whom haven’t scored this season but are passing the ball around like it's a political hot potato.
Flip the coin, and you've got Alavés. Kike García and Carlos Vicente are the ones to watch, with a goal each to their names this season. García's got the shooting skills, but if we're talking about his pass accuracy, well... let's just say my grandma's got a better chance of threading a needle in the dark.
Looking at the past matchups, these teams have had a tit for tat relationship, trading 2-1 and 1-0 wins last season. Their season records though? About as weak as a decaf coffee. Real Sociedad's record of 12-6-14 is a bit brighter compared to Alavés's 7-10-15, but it's no carnival.
Lately, Real Sociedad is playing a lot of high scoring draws while Alavés has been on a rough road with more tumbles than a clumsy gymnast. All these factors considered, calling the winner here is harder than choosing a Netflix show on a Friday night. But someone’s got to do it and I guess that's why they pay me the big bucks.
