Atlético Madrid by 2Well, put on your seatbelts, folks, because we're bracing for quite the cataclysmic collision in the world of La Liga.
We have Leganés going up against Atlético Madrid, and it's a bit like watching a Pomeranian frolic with a Rottweiler. Can the tiny dashing furball show prowess against the big bad boy? Maybe.
On one hand, we got Atlético Madrid boasting a robust lineup including the likes of stalwarts like Clément Lenglet and Rodrigo de Paul, who have showcased stellar performance recently. And then we have Antoine Griezmann too, who hasn't exactly been lighting up the scoreboards, but hey, sometimes experience counts for something, right? All this firepower guarded by Jan Oblak between the posts, who so far has been more of a wall than a goalie.
That said though, life won't be a walk in the park for Madrid. Even though their opponent Leganés are the underdogs, they possess their fair share of artillery. Seydouba Cisse and Dani Raba have shown promising form lately and may just steer the game to an unexpected turn if Atlético isn't careful. Their defense seems to be in good hands too, with Marko Dmitrović standing tall in the goalie box. Although, they'll be short of some serious talent with Óscar Rodríguez and Enric Franquesa missing from the lineup due to injuries.
Looking back at history and how they've performed against each other, Atlético does have the upper hand with their latest 3-1 victory. Couple this with their sparkling regular season record, and well, they're shining brighter than a diamond.
Leganés, on the other hand, have been struggling, a bit like a Corgi trying to jump onto a high mattress. Sure, they had a surprise win against Barcelona, but then again, a broken wristwatch is right twice a day.
However, as we proceed to predictions, do remember, soccer isn't played on paper or based on past triumphs. That being said...
