Let's talk some hockey, ladies and gents! We've got a real barn-burner lining up, with Admiral Vladivostok paying a visit to SKA St. Petersburg.
Starting off with the lads protecting the cage, we find ourselves uninformed about the recent prowess of these netminders. Both Andrei Mishurov and Ilya Konovalov from Vladivostok, as well as home side's Egor Zavragin and Pavel Moysevich, are quite the enigma with no save stats to showcase this season. It's like trying to pick a jigsaw puzzle in the dark.
What we do have is some fire on the offensive end. Looking at Vladivostok, we've got Daniil Gutik who's been lighting the lamp this past season with 19 assists and 11 goals, then there's Nikita Soshnikov who has been displaying some great form with 12 goals this season. St. Petersburg though is no slouch when it comes to goal-scoring. I mean Marat Khairullin alone has made opposing goaltenders sweat with 11 goals and 16 assists this season, and then there's Sergei Plotnikov who's knocked in a cool 14 goals. It's like watching a ballet, but with toothless, bearded men and a lot more concussions.
If we look back in time, these teams have faced off three times with SKA taking two wins and Admiral picking up a solitary win. Their regular season records aren’t too far off with Admiral at 18-17 and SKA currently at 21-12. As for recent form, well Admiral surely blew a gasket in their match against Dynamo, while SKA turned Torpedo into Twisted Metal.
So, who to put your money on? Roll those drums, because here's my take...
