Olympiacos by 5Look who we're talking about here, folks, it's Euroleague Semifinal time with Monaco Basket taking Atlantis, I mean, Olympiacos head on. In their last romp, Monaco Basket managed to edge out Olympiacos with a petty three-point lead. Seems like they squeezed that out just like my wife squeezes every last drop out of the toothpaste tube - even though we both know it's time for a new one.
Monaco's players might have numbers stuffed in their stat sheets grander than a Thanksgiving turkey, but Olympiacos isn’t running on empty – take it from Sasha Vezenkov, for instance. The lad's been outdoing himself in these playoffs, averaging 19 points per game, and Evan Fournier isn't far behind either with a neat 17.7 points to his name. I have to say, if I had to compare, these numbers light up brighter than Monaco's on a rainy day.
Speaking of Monaco Basket, they seem to be doing alright for themselves in the playoffs, winning some, losing some, like a rollercoaster down a scenic route. But, Olympiacos, like a dependable sedan, just keeps on trucking. Now, I ain't no oracle, but going by their recent results, Olympiacos's course is smoother than a cashmere sweater.
And if we talk about the top players, Mike James and Georgios Papagiannis have done a solid job for Monaco Basket, no small feat. I mean, Georgios here has averaged 17 points per game in the playoffs, but still, they look like they're struggling, more than my dog's attempt to catch his own tail.
Taking everything into account - their recent performance, playoffs record, and position in the standings - it's clear where my chips are.
