Saracens by 17Ah, the Exeter Chiefs vs Saracens, a match-up that's usually as thrilling as watching paint dry on a humid day. So let's see, we've got the Saracens, who aren't too shabby this season, perched pretty on the number 3 spot. The Chiefs, however, are struggling to keep their heads above water, with just one victory to their name. Well, I guess there's always next year.
Looking at the old book of grudges—a.k.a past matchups, it's a rather mixed bag. Saracens have come out on top 3 times out of 5 in recent history; however, the Exeter Chiefs did give them a solid thrashing back in 2023. But with the Chiefs' current form, it seems they've lost wherever they found that spirit.
The Saracens had a bit of a stumble against Bristol Bears in their most recent bout, but apart from a humbling experience against Bath Rugby, they've managed to maintain some semblance of dignity in their recent games. On the opposite side of the river, the Chiefs are bungling along with a series of losses, occasionally interrupted by a minor victory.
Taking a closer look at regular season records, the Saracens are standing at 6 victories and 4 losses. The Chiefs have a rather lamentable 1 win and 9 losses, which honestly resembles my golf record a bit too closely for comfort. If the Saracens had a poor start in the season, they could literally walk from their dressing room to the pitch, and they'd still probably outscore the Chiefs.
Given these elements, I think it's safe to say the outcome here isn't exactly a nail-biter. Assuming Saracens don't decide to play blindfolded to level the field, they should walk away with an easy win.
