If you've been paying any attention to the Chinese Super League lately...and yes, I'm assuming you have been, because what else would you be doing with your life...you'd know that the upcoming encounter between Chengdu Rongcheng and Meizhou Hakka bears some significance.
I'll tell you this, that Chengdu boys' goalkeeper Dianzuo Liu, has been a concrete wall with a rating of 7.16 and 19 saves. Although, Meizhou's Quanbo Guo hasn't exactly been a slouch either, holding his own with a 6.33 rating and 10 saves. But honestly, who are we trying to kid here? Liu has more saves than Guo has chins, and that's saying something.
When it comes to power players on both team, the eye should instantly focus in on Rômulo and Timo Letschert of Chengdu Rongcheng, whose ratings speak for themselves really. Their mirror image in Hakka colours would be Jerome Mbekeli and Rodrigo Henrique. Interesting duo, aren't they? And by interesting, I mean in that coffee is interesting because it keeps me awake during these games kind of way.
Past matchups suggest that Chengdu holds the reigning title of 'Hey, we've-beaten-you-before' club, sweeping Hakka under the carpet twice last year. Yeah, I imagine that hurt. A lot. And looking at regular season stats, it's quite evident Chengdu has a knack for winning...or at least more than Hakka does, which isn't much of a high bar, if you know what I mean.
Recent games also point in the direction of Chengdu's net, with an admirable series of wins under their belt. While Meizhou on the other hand...well, to put it kindly, they’ve been "struggling" -- if by struggling you mean floundering hopelessly like a goldfish out of its bowl. But hey, who am I to judge?
So where does that leave us? Well, my dear invisible audience, with no courtesies spared and based on all unspoken factors, it's time for...
