Changchun Yatai by 1
Ah, the age-old clash between Shenzhen City and Changchun Yatai, a classic duel if there ever was one. The array of talent and power is quite impressive really.
Changchun Yatai's Yake Wu is a solid brick wall in goal with an impressive 6.85 rating and 11 saves. Their troops on the field include Lazar Rosić who's got a whopping 77.5% accurate pass rate despite his lack of goals and Long Tan, oh yes that man, popping 3 goals this season. Impressive, yes, but still room for improvement.
Over at Shenzhen City, it's a bit of a mixed bag. No less than two keepers listed here, Jiabao Ji with a rating of 6.50 and 9 saves, and Shi Zhao handling the rest of the duties with a rating of 6.40 and 3 saves. On the field, we've got Edu Garcia showing off with 2 goals and an 83.6% accurate pass rate. Plus, don't forget the unsinkable Eden Karzev, zero goals, but with an 84.4% accurate pass rate? This man's doing his thing, just not scoring.
Looking at prior matchups, these two have a bit of a love-hate relationship. Shenzhen City edged out Changchun Yatai with a 2 vs 1 win back in July '24, but gravity pulled them back to an even 1 vs 1 draw earlier that year in May. The universe has a way of balancing itself out.
Now, bear in mind folks - I'm not one to trudge through past records but it's clear that good form's been a bit elusive for these two. Changchun Yatai has a record of 1 win, 1 draw, and 4 losses, while Shenzhen City sits justo slightly worse at 1 win, 0 draws, and 5 losses.
Recent performances in the arena seem to mirror this. Changchun Yatai seems to have found their compass pointing upward with a recent win, while Shenzhen City, unfortunately, has been eating dirt with a string of brutal losses. Makes for great drama, not so much for winning stats.
Now if the stars align correctly — and I'm not saying they will — Changchun Yatai seems like the more likely victor in this titanic clash. Given the nature of the game and the utter chaos that seems to prevail, I'd say they'd sneak in by a slim margin.
