Alright, let's get on with this thing. Borussia Dortmund and Lille are about to engage in some turf warfare. No tea party this, I can assure you.
Over in Lille's corner, we've got Lucas Chevalier on goalie duty with a respectable 7.16 rating and 28 saves. Good numbers, sure. But then you put them up against Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel, who's been solid with a 7.22 rating and 31 saves, and, well, you get the picture.
We also can't ignore the heavy-hitting top players here. For Lille, we've got the likes of Tiago Santos and Jonathan David, they may not be scoring goals but they've been key playmakers. Although, if you were hoping for last season statistics to give them a boost, sorry to disappoint, they're fresh this season.
On Borussia Dortmund's side, we have some strong contenders. You've got Karim Adeyemi with a 7.63 rating and 4 goals, not to mention Serhou Guirassy, whose name you're probably tired of hearing thanks to the 10 goals he bagged this season. So if you're looking for some reassuring past numbers, well, they're providing.
Both teams are neck-and-neck looking at tournament records with Dortmund having slightly more losses and Lille with one more draw. In the world of recent results though, Lille's shown they don't fear higher goal counts. Borussia Dortmund, however, managed to keep a clean sheet against Sporting, even though they failed to net any. Bologna did hit them where it hurts, but they avenged themselves against Sporting after.
So where does that leave us in terms of predictions? Well, after a lot of talk, and some curtailing of my verbal extravagance, I've crunched the numbers and worked out the possibilities…
Albert’s Prediction: Borussia Dortmund by 1.
