My Prediction
PSV Eindhoven by 1Well, well, well. The soccer gods have gifted us another sumptuous showdown, this time, the gritty underdogs FK Crvena zvezda taking on 'we-collect-medals-for-fun' crew PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League match.
Starting from between the sticks, our net-minders for this contest have had a good run. PSV Eindhoven's wise wall Walter Benítez comes in with 16 saves, while Joel Drommel has been a bit of a lazy boy with only 3 saves. On the other end, we've got FK Crvena zvezda's Ivan Guteša boasting a 7.45 rating with nine saves, but his understudy Omri Glazer seems to have been using his glove time as nap time with an unflattering 6.55 rating and only 4 saves. I'll tell ya, I've seen more effort on a brunch buffet!
As for the dream weavers, PSV Eindhoven has Malik Tillman who...oops, never mind. He'll be twiddling his thumbs today from the sidelines with an injury. Watch out for Johan Bakayoko though, and Olivier Boscagli, they have held their own this season. But boy, I wouldn’t want my mortgage depending on Ryan Flamingo's shots on goal.
Curiously, on the other side, FK Crvena zvezda fields Nemanja Radonjić, who could probably score in a telephone booth, netting an impressive three goals. Timi Max Elšnik and Mirko Ivanić are there with him playing second fiddle, although they’ve shown promise.
Interestingly, Eindhoven's tournament record is an uninspiring symmetrical 2-2-2, while FK Crvena zvezda has been singing a tragic tune of late, with their current record reading like a bad joke: 1-0-5. But they did wallop VfB Stuttgart, which was surprising as a quiet sneeze at a symposium!
Taking an eagle-eye view at their recent results, PSV Eindhoven has been as downbeat as a dirge. Meanwhile, FK Crvena zvezda seems about as consistent as my last diet!
Considering all, my forecast for the match is, PSV Eindhoven might just hobble to a tiny victory, but likely by the skin of their teeth. Probably by a hair's breadth or one lousy point to be precise. Don't say I didn't warn you.
