Get out your wallets, kids, cause we've got a bit of a quandary on our hands with this Champions League playoffs. We're talking Paris Saint-Germain versus Atlético Madrid. Now, the numbers might have Paris Saint-Germain as favored, but let's chew on these numbers for a bit.
Between the sticks, Madrid is sporting Jan Oblak who's behaving like a real wall with a rating of 6.83 and 8 saves. Over on the Paris side though, Safonov is boasting a higher rating of 7.10. They have Donnarumma, too, pulling a decent 6.60. But, frankly, both keepers might as well be playing chess with the lack of saves they're making.
Taking a gander at the player pool, Madrid's Antoine Griezmann stands out. Good ol' stable Griezmann, hitting us with a 7.73 rating and an impressive accurate pass percentage of 84.7, well he's best of the lot really in my opinion. João Neves of Paris can pass a peach, with an accurate percentage of 91.2, but we're not playing Pass the Parcel here mate, we need goals!
And get this, Atlético’s José María Giménez and Robin Le Normand are stuck in the sick bay. That’s some precious talent, off the field. Same goes for Paris’s mem, they have Lucas Hernández and Gonçalo Ramos on the injury bench.
Looking at recent scores, Atlético Madrid seems to be playing a game of seesaw with their results, 1 win against 2 losses. On the flip side, Paris Saint-Germain has managed a more balanced record with 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Kind of an 'eeny, meeny, miny, moe' scenario.
And here's the deal, folks, with the way things are, I'd offer that Paris Saint-Germain might want to consider a name change after this match to 'Paris Saint-Mediocre'. I wouldn’t be shocked with a draw, but if we want to gamble, which of course we do, my money is on Atlético Madrid.
