The stage is set for a Bundesliga showdown between VfB Stuttgart and Augsburg - can't you just feel the electricity in the air? Or is that the buzzing of the stadium lights? Anyways...
As we look at the gatekeepers to the net, Augsburg's Finn Dahmen has clearly outperformed Stuttgart's Alexander Nübel this season, but one man alone can't stop an avalanche.
Flipping the page to player's showcase, Augsburg has been putting their trust in the likes of Keven Schlotterbeck, Cedric Zesiger, and Chrislain Matsima. Solid choices, their toothbrushes probably have better pass accuracy than my golf swing. Unfortunately, the scoreboard needs goals, not dental hygiene. The boys from Stuttgart though, specifically Angelo Stiller, Deniz Undav, and Maximilian Mittelstädt, they seem to be having a party and shots are on the house.
When digging up the graveyard of their past matchups, it's pretty clear that Stuttgart must have Augsburg's number. Three victories and a draw over the last four outings. Maybe they wrote it down on a sticky note or something, I don't know.
Speaking of numbers, the regular season records are as identical as my socks after laundry day, and I usually lose at least one. The only difference is Stuttgart's balancing act seems to lean slightly more towards the win column than the draw column, when compared to Augsburg's.
Recently, Augsburg seems to be on the rough side of a seesaw, sinking with more losses than a pirate's treasure chest. Meanwhile Stuttgart, despite their mixed bag of results, seems to be enjoying a ride on a merry-go-round with a habit of scoring more frequently.
So even though my magic 8-ball has gone missing, I'd say that Stuttgart's superior record in head-to-head clashes, along with their scoring tendency, should lead them to victory, though not by a huge margin. Maybe just enough to win a game of ping-pong...
Albert’s Prediction: VfB Stuttgart by 1
