Hawthorn Hawks by 6Oh, what a match-up we've got here! We're about the halfway point of the season, with both the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn Hawks vying to creep up the ladder into that coveted top eight. They’re practically neighbors, sitting at #9 and #6 respectively. But that's about as close as an elephant and a kangaroo, if you ask me.
Now, let's remind ourselves of the blood-pumping history of these Jeepers Creepers. Looks like in most recent encounters, Hawthorn Hawks made the Bulldogs their chew toy. A bit of a role reversal, eh? Despite this, it seems odds makers are leaning towards the Bulldogs. A mystery wrapped in a fortune cookie, if you ask me.
Peeking at the current season records, the Hawks appear to have a slight edge with a 7-5 record compared to the Bulldogs 6-5. Plus, when you look at the Hawks' recent winning rub-a-dub-dub against the Richmond Tigers, you'd think the Hawks are soaring. Meanwhile, the Dogs, muzzled by the Geelong Cats in their recent match, looked less like dogs and more like ... well, kittens.
However, the Dogs haven't been all whimper. Did we forget about the 'Bombers' Bash' where they sent Essendon home with their tails between their legs? So, there’s more to these Dawgs then fluffy tails and wet noses.
As I see it, if the Bulldogs can channel their inner Cujo and the Hawks forget they have talons, we'll have a game worth swapping your mother's roast for. But if we’re talking brass tacks, in all likelihood, my money would be on the Hawks sticking to the Bulldogs like bees on a Coke can.
