Well, this should be as interesting as watching paint dry. We've got Diane Parry, who's had the ups and downs of a roller coaster in a theme park. She's coming off a win but had a loss before that, much like her inconsistent track record would suggest.
Meanwhile, we have Jessica Pegula, who seemingly enjoys crushing dreams with her consistency. Sat Sep 7 2024 may have seen a dip in her performance, but previous encounters tell a "nothing but victory" tale. She just enjoys pulling the rug out from under her opponents, just when they start to feel the ground under their feet.
Pegula is seeded second in this tournament. Whereas Parry is as seeded as a peeled orange. I guess the organizers didn't have the heart to tell Parry that the term "unseeded" in tennis is not as charming as it might seem.
Despite the rollercoaster ride Parry's had, I, in all my wisdom, see Pegula running circles around her opponent, while Parry runs after the ball struggling to keep up. For all you greenhorns out there, I'm saying that the match will be as thrilling as a Sunday afternoon nap.
So, unless you enjoy watching a fish out of water, I don't see much of a contest here. Looks like a walk in the park for Jessica and a day of running after the dog for Diane.
Albert's Prediction: Pegula in straight sets.
