Today, we take a trip down to New Orleans to witness the little tussle between the South Florida Bulls and Tulane Green Wave. An even regular season record has both teams knotted at 2-2 but let me tell you, the devil's in the detail here.
South Florida's had a rough go of it against decent opposition, managing a measly 16 against Alabama Crimson Tide and getting blown away to the tune of 35 points by Miami Hurricanes. Tulane Green Wave, on the other hand, despite their loss to Oklahoma Sooners, showed some grit and posted an admirable 19 points.
South Florida turns to the throws of Byrum Brown and the shady other fella, Bryce Archie. Brown's been decent, and Archie...well, let's just be kind say he's been... present. Tulane parades Darian Mensah, who's strutting a solid number of TDs and leading the charge with an impressive passing efficiency.
South Florida's got some topical lads on offense, notably Sean Atkins and Kelley Joiner doing the heavy lifting. Tulane's offensive stars shine brighter with the likes of Makhi Hughes and Mario Williams showing off brag-worthy stats.
Defense is interesting, with Mac Harris for South Florida impressing. Tulane, not be outdone however, fields Bailey Despanie and Sam Howard, both of whom show excellent tackling efforts.
Considering all this, it's clear as a bell the Green Wave seems to have an edge. The stronger offense coupled with a somewhat equivalent defense - doing so with style, I might add - tilts the scale. So, if it comes true, remember to thank your lovable, slightly obnoxious color commentator later when the chips fall.
