North Carolina State Wolfpack by 8
Well, if I can tear you away from your nachos for a moment, let's talk pigskin. Gonna get real with you here, we're looking at a classic Midwestern showdown: the Northern Illinois Huskies trot on down to the turf of the North Carolina State Wolfpack.
Let's not pretend we don't remember the Huskies' heavy loss to the Buffalo Bulls, but they bounced right back, actually managing to stick it to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Not too shabby, considering. Their quarterback, Ethan Hampton, put up a respectable show: 157.7 passing efficiency, 720 passing yards, 6 touchdowns, 1 interception... Not exactly the second coming of Tom Brady, but it's clear the boy can play. Offensively, Antario Brown and Trayvon Rudolph carried the team with their impressive stats over the past month.
Our friends down at the Wolfpack haven't exactly been setting the world on fire though. Despite a brutal shellacking by the Clemson Tigers, their quarterback duo of Grayson McCall and Cedrick Bailey showed some promise, though they'll need to cut down on those pesky interceptions. On the offensive side, they're heavily leaning on Kevin Concepcion and Jordan Waters.
On defense, Northern Illinois has Christian Fuhrman and Jaden Dolphin making notable contributions, while North Carolina State is led by two tackling powerhouses Caden Fordham and Sean Brown. It's not exactly a remake of the '85 Bears here, but it's a solid bunch of players.
So, if I had a nickel on it, which team would I back to sing the victory song? Northern Illinois, despite some great moments, are yet to truly impress, while North Carolina State's still licking their wounds. Still, I think we'll see North Carolina pulling out the stops when it really counts.
So there you have it. Don't take my word as gospel - make of it what you will.
