Let's start by talking about our quarterbacks, shall we? Minnesota's Golden Gophers have to lean a lot on their quarterback, Max Brosmer. With a passing efficiency of 136.6 and 5 touchdowns to his name in just a month, he has proven his worth. Brosmer manages the best touchdown-to-interception ratio among all current Wolverines, and he's proven he can put up the big numbers with a whopping 836 passing yards. Oh, and he has more completions than any man has a right to at 75 in the last month. The Gophers have good reason to place their faith in him.
On the other side of the field, Michigan Wolverines are dealing with a quagmire at the throwing arm. Davis Warren, despite achieving only a 111.0 passing efficiency, gets thrown into play the most, with 48 completions in recent clashes. Don't forget about Alex Orji who, despite less playing time, has shown better efficiency and manged 2 touchdowns without a single interception.
Shifting gears, let's see who's at the receiving end of these pigskins, yeah? Daniel Jackson, Marcus Major, and Elijah Spencer lead the pack for the Golden Gophers. Jackson blasted 271 yards across 21 receptions, Major showcased his skills with 207 total yards and scored 2 touchdowns, while Spencer chimed in with 153 total yards and a touchdown. Tight end Jameson Geers even gifted us a touchdown. On the other hand, Wolverines' top trio in this department, Donovan Edwards, Colston Loveland, and Semaj Morgan, accumulated 517 total yards among themselves, less yards per reception, and only 5 total touchdowns. Barring a major upset, I must say, crunching the numbers shows the Golden Gophers are packing more firepower offensively.
Defensively, both teams have contributed fairly. Gophers have seen Maverick Baranowski, Cody Lindenberg, and Danny Striggow making significant contributions with a total of 71 tackles and 3 sacks. Sean 'The Lockdown' Henderson even challenged the passer couple of times resulting in two interceptions. Wolverines' defensive stars Ernest Hausmann, Jaishawn Barham, and Mason Graham totaled 43 tackles and 2 sacks, arguably not as impressive.
Remembering last year's sweep by the Wolverines at the Gophers' den (52-10), it's safe to say the Gophers are out for blood. Keeping all this information in mind, I'm going with the home court advantage here:
