Iowa State Cyclones by 14
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to talk a little football. It's a Lone Star State showdown as the Iowa State Cyclones pack their bags and make the trip down quicksilver road to face off against the Houston Cougars.
Things look a bit tricky for the Cougars, loyalists might want to keep the aspirin on stand by - the regular season has been about as friendly as a porcupine in a balloon shop. They're staring down the barrel at 1-3, while the Cyclones emerge unscathed, swathed in the sweet sheen of 3-0.
Going head to head for the Cyclones will be ringleader, quarterback Rocco Becht, whose recent impressive record sings to the tune of 743 passing yards and 6 touchdowns, offset by a mere two interceptions. Now let's tune the orchestra on the Cougar’s side - Donovan Smith averaging 610 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, undermined nearly twice over by 4 interceptions. We might not be bookmakers but, well, you didn’t hear it from me.
Looking at the offensive portfolio, like a crime scene investigator going over a splot of tomato ketchup, vests those of the Cyclones seem like they are packing real firepower. High roller Jaylin Noel and heavy-hitter Jayden Higgins have been serving up touchdowns on a silver platter. The Cougars while trying for some good scratching, with Re'Shaun Sanford, Stacy Sneed and Joseph Manjack, sadly haven't cougared as much.
The defensive ensemble isn’t making things much better. Linebacker for the Cougars, Michael Batton, puts some good skin in the game with his 28 tackles and 2 sacks. As for the cyclones, it's a whirlwind on the field. Malik Verdon with 22 tackles and Beau Freyler with 20 tackles, all rounding up an all-star defense.
In the grand scheme of things, smart money seems to be riding with the Cyclones, who bring a whirl of offensive and defensive game. Barring unexpected underpasses and gusty winds, this should spin nicely for the folks from Iowa.
