Rutgers Scarlet Knights by 3
Finally, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are locking horns with the Washington Huskies. You'd have to be a real wet cap not to enjoy the prospect of this matchup.
Looking at the regular season records, both the teams were in a groove gaining momentum, with the Huskies showing a 3-1 win-loss ratio and the Knights unbeaten in three straight games. But let's not forget that records are, at best, wallpaper, while the game is a window to the street.
On to the quarterbacks, the Huskies have the dynamic duo, Will Rogers and Demond Williams, throwing darts left and right. Rogers alone has managed an impressive 1048 passing yards, with a pin-point accuracy of 8 TDs and no interceptions in the recent month. However, the Knights counter this with Athan Kaliakmanis, who despite having fewer passing yards, 646 to be exact, has been quite successful with 6 TDs, and just a tiny misstep with 1 interception.
Moving to other key players, each team has their secret sauce. For the Huskies, it's Jonah Coleman and Giles Jackson. Coleman, brutal on the ground with 474 total yards and Jackson, nifty in the air with 347 total yards, make for a combo harder to handle than bar soap in a bath. On the opposing end, the Knights owe a lot to their running back Kyle Monangai, who's hammered down 460 total yards and Dymere Miller who's proved to be a reliable receiver weaving his magic on 212 total yards.
We must not underestimate the role of defensive players. The Huskies' defense is helmed by Alphonzo Tuputala leading with 16 tackles and 2 sacks. The Knights' defense isn't exactly on a vacation with Dariel Djabome leading the tackles on their side.
When it comes down to it, this will be a game more balanced than a perfect pancake, but not as tasty. Thanks to the rising performances of the Scarlet Knights and considering other subtle hints from the universe, the Knights appear somewhat better equipped to seize the day.
